F.A.Q.

Grey Board

Do we sell grey live edge barn boards?

No we don’t.

How do we Charge.

Cost per board is based on square footage only, and NOT a linear foot.

What is a square foot?

A square foot is a square 12” x 12” or 30cm x 30 cm. Thickness does not come into play.

What is a linear foot?

A linear foot is a set or predetermined standardized width often seen with flooring, trim and moulding.

Why do we charge by the square foot and not a linear foot?

Each barn was built entirely different without standardized sizings and with a vast array of widths and lengths. Therefore linear pricing becomes next to impossible.

what are the prices?

>6’ = $8 per square foot
>4’ <6’ = $7 per square foot
>2’ <4’ = $6 per square foot

Example:

For example, to cover a 10’ x 10’ wall = 100 square feet of coverage.
If using >6’ boards = $8 per square foot = $800. This wall will cost $800 REGARDLESS if using 10 boards or 20.
If using >4’ <6’ boards = $7 per square foot = $700.
If using >2’ <4’ boards = $6 per square foot = $600

F.A.Q.

Brown Board

Do we sell brown live edge barn boards?

This product is only available upon request in advance as we don’t typically stock it in our inventory.

What are the prices?

>6’ = $7 per square foot
>4’ <6’ = $6 per square foot
>2’ <4’ = $5 per square foot

Example:

For example, to cover a 10’ x 10’ wall = 100 square feet of coverage.
If using >6’ boards = $7 per square foot = $700. This wall will cost $700 REGARDLESS if using 10 boards or 20.
If using >4’ <6’ boards = $6 per square foot = $600.
If using >2’ <4’ boards = $5 per square foot = $500

F.A.Q.

Beams

How do we charge For BEams?

The cost of each beam is dependent on two things. Width of the beam and linear length and NOT by a board foot.

What is a linear foot?

A linear foot is a set or predetermined standardized width often seen with flooring, trim and moulding.

What are the prices?

3’ – 19’ Long Beams:
10” and up = $20.00 a linear foot

7”-9″ = $17.50 a linear foot

6″ and down = $15.00 a linear foot

20’ + Long Beams:
10” and up = $25.00 a linear foot

7”-9″ = $22.50 a linear foot

6″ and down = $20.00 a linear foot

Why do we charge by the linear foot and not a board foot?

Each barn was built entirely different without standardized sizings and with a vast array of widths and lengths. Therefore linear pricing becomes the easiest way to calculate the cost. 8” beams are an average size so we used that as our metric to simplify pricing for the consumer.

What is a board foot?

A board foot measures the volume of the wood in inches. Length x width x height / 144

Example:

A 10”x10” beam at 20’ long will be $500 whereas two 10″x10″ beams at 10′ length will cost $400.

F.A.Q.

Tin

How do we charge?

The cost tin is dependant on square footage and NOT by the running foot.

What is a square foot?

A square foot is a square 12” x 12” or 30cm x 30 cm. Thickness does not come into play

What is a running foot?

A running foot is a set or predetermined standardized 3’ width. Similar to what’s often seen with flooring, trim and moulding. All metal roofing tin is the exact same 3’ width, so roofing companies standardized their prices based on each sheet being the same.

Why do we charge by the square foot and not a running foot?

No reason other than the majority of our calculations are based off of square footage so it just makes our life simpler. You could also take our square foot prices and multiply them by 3 to figure out the running foot cost.

What are the prices?

Rusted tin = $2 per square foot

Non rusted tin = $.7 per square foot

Example:

For example, a 3’ x 8’ sheet of tin is 24 square feet.
Rusted tin = $2 per square foot x 24 square feet = $48
Non rusted tin = $.7 per square foot x 24 square feet = $16.8

F.A.Q.

2” Boards:

What are the boards cut / made out of?

Every board is from our century old reclaimed barn beams and was sawn by us using a sawmill.

Can we make custom cuts for your project?

Yes, custom cutting is available.

Do we sell 2” live edge barn boards?

Yes and no. Our 2” boards are cut from a sawmill out of an original hand hewn or rough sawn beam. As the hand hewn beams were cut by hand, some boards may have a “live edge” to them. However the beams are as close to square and plumb as could be expected 100 years ago considering they were cut by hand. Nothing will resemble what you would see on a live edge river table or similar product.

Do some boards contain pockets?

Yes, some boards contain pockets. Beam skins are made out of century old barn beams which were joined by mortise and tenon connections on the old style barn builds of post and beam joining. The joints are what causes the pockets which is why some boards may contain them

If using >4’ <6’ boards = $7 per square foot = $700.
If using >2’ <4’ boards = $4 per square foot = $600
